Light and Life for All Project
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
(John 8:12)
“…I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
(John 10:10)
What is the ‘Light and Life for All’ Project?
The church building is old and there are parts of it that need updating. We are currently undertaking a building project called Light and Life for All. This is to enhance our church building so that it is suitable for the 21st century and the communities of Holt. This means making the space more accessible and user friendly, such as improving wheelchair access and improving the flexibility of the spaces we have. Another aspect of this project is to restore the heritage features of the building, such as removing our suspended ceiling in the main worship space. By working on these two aspects – the enhancing and restoring – we can make the building both interesting and practical.
We have received some architectural drawings to help us visualize the completed project. The drawings depict the removal of the suspended ceiling, revealing the large rose window. A chandelier-like fixture will provide both heating and lighting. Additionally, partition doors will be installed to replace the brick wall at the back of the church. These doors will be flexible, allowing for different uses of the space and creating a sense of flow. A nighttime photo showcases the accentuated lighting, highlighting the church’s unique architecture.
The improvements to the building will not only repair and restore it, but they will also make the space more suitable for the 21st century. This includes better access, improved usability, and being better equipped to help us serve the communities of Holt.
Community Audit
Thanks to the many people who participated and completed our questionnaire, we have now managed to complete our community audit. We have been able to make an infographic that clearly displays the results of this audit. Thank you again to those who participated and the next steps are working out what we will do with the church once the restoration work is completed. We will keep you updated, so watch this space!
